As we always say.... if you dream it and can visualize it the dream will come true………
Returning to our Sydney, City Life after completing the Permaculture Course in January 2008 was been a real whirlwind of a month.
We were home 5 minutes before we were looking around our house, thinking like permaculturalists and made the immediate decision to change the layout of every room in our house (Zone 0 focus of course) With that week out of the way….and running around like mad chickens in some sort of a dream world, we got back to work at our unnatural jobs in the city wondering how we would ever be able to engineer our way out of the boardrooms and small backyards.
Well….. you wouldn’t believe it….. the universe was fully listening to us and so on the first day that (Joshua) went back to work, his boss called a company meeting at 3pm with some very good news……. It had been decided that due to the companies successful sales history and to add an option of lifestyle into our jobs, we were all being offered the opportunity to work full time from home……. We had to rub our eyes and pinch ourselves…… was the boss saying that we could retain our corporate job and work from home…….. YES HE WAS.
So that was it……………we were immediately on the phone to real estate agents, friends and willing property guru’s to find our farm…… we ran the events like a military operation, scouring real estate websites by the hour, and printing photos of every property that seemed to meet our criteria (Which of course we were ticking off our master list) We had parents driving over the countryside up north for us, looking at properties, traipsing through paddocks and through forests, getting leeches and various other ‘wildlife’ checking them out.
We became passionate about a few properties and resolved to drive up in Early February and really get out and see some more properties (To add to the huge list we have seen over the past 2 years)
So it was Sunday afternoon and we were getting ready to drive back to Sydney when an opportunity to view the property one farm away from Mum & Larry's farm (which amazingly we now own)…..
When we saw our farm………..on Sunday 10th February we felt like we had arrived home. It was like putting on those favourite jeans that fit so well…….we just knew we had to do everything in our power to make it happen.
To be honest………the 7 days following that moment in particular went past as if we were moving at such a pace for us that the reality around us seemed to be in slow motion. We did everything needed to put an offer in to buy the property, spoke to banks, completed building inspection, completed pest Inspection, engaged environmental consultant, met accountant, engaged lawyer, met locals, spoke to new potential neighbours, and everything fell into place like clockwork…………… and it is with great excitement we would like to share some great news which is that we have purchased our farm (1 month since graduating from the Permaculture Design Certificate) …..and 9 days since finding our dream property to turn into our Permaculture Paradise.
