Well its been one of those days where we have been making real progress as usual, working both inside and out of the house (After being motivated enough to be up to 4am the prior day), changing our cupboard organisation, moving plates and glasses to more functional areas, sanding old mirrors and shelves and continuing to amalgamate all our digital files and media onto the new mother ship computer.
After going to Bellingen Markets yesterday we are laden with great food like olive bread, pumpkin scones, apple slice, fresh dark rye, organic veges of all varieties and at reasonable prices, tomato jam and fresh marmalade, smoked trout, fresh meats-fish-chicken and some clothes for Jasper as he had the fortunate position of vomiting on himself just before requesting to be carried all day (which has subsequently destroyed my back)
We had our first outdoor lunch today which was smoked trout, tuna, salad and fresh bread with accompaniments and crisp beer looking out over the paddocks and trees with a light breeze and warm sun. It was a beautiful day...... (however it would be great if the chicken manure we spread on the garden the other day wasn't pervading our nostrils on every inch of the farm......and it seems that the wind changes just to spite us and carry the fresh smell directly to wherever we are)
The other thing on our minds today is booking our trip to Japan (online tonight) which will be very exciting and we plan to see all our relatives and Tomoko's Mums and Dads home towns, we will also go to the north of Japan and plan to visit some Permaculture sites there, looking for authentic and natural farming methods, local seeds and hand tools as well as Japanese architecture, foods and cooking utensils.
In a few days, Josh's Dad will be visiting here for about 10 days to see the farm for the first time which we are looking forward to. It will be interesting to have his views on our projects underway and to share our dreams and ideas for the future. His practical mind and insights will, as always be useful....and we know he is interested in Aquaculture so maybe we can focus on our thoughts for that longer term development.
Finally, there is only 12 days left until Josh's last day with his current employer Global Refund www.globalrefund.com on May 30th which will then start a month of holidays (in Josh's birthday month - June 3rd) before commencing work with the NAB on July 1st as a Transactional Specialist managing relationships with all the Bankers and clients between Port Macquarie and Byron Bay..... one of our other fav places in the north coast.
So.......... Now to make a fire and warm the house
